ABOUT THIS ROLE
Zogo is currently seeking a technical leader, strategist, and hands-on contributor as a Principal Engineer to join our team in Austin, Texas. Our products include an iOS/Android application, web products and various integrations, and we are looking for someone to lead a team designing and developing our core software products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and IT, to deliver scalable and impactful solutions. This role demands a deep technical expertise, innovative thinking, ability to lead and contribute in setting good code standards and a passion for mentoring teams in a scrappy startup environment.

You'll be responsible for:
Technical Leadership
Define and drive the overall technical strategy, architecture and performance of systems through thoughtful design and best practices.
Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge technologies and tools to enhance the development process.
Hands-On Development
Write high-quality, maintainable code and set coding standards for the engineering team.
Lead by example in solving complex technical challenges and debugging critical issues.
Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver features on time and with a high level of quality.
Mentorship and Collaboration
Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Facilitate technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Act as a trusted advisor for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Product Innovation
Collaborate with product and design teams to align technical decisions with business goals.
Translate user needs and financial literacy concepts into intuitive and impactful software solutions.
Contribute to brainstorming sessions and prototypes to test new ideas.
Operational Excellence
Ensure robust CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes are in place.
Define and track KPIs for system performance and reliability.
Oversee incident management and guide teams in post-mortem analysis to improve systems.
YOUR EXPERIENCE:
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or architect role.
Strong proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, Node.js, Ionic/Angular).
Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture.
Experience with scalable systems, distributed systems, and API design.
Proven track record of delivering complex software projects in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Passion for financial literacy and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
Experience with mobile app development (Kotlin and/or Swift)
Native SDK development experience is a plus
Relevant qualification or degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
